About Smith Trucking

Joe Smith started this company in 1946 when he began hauling grain and livestock and doing corn shelling for local farmers. Later, Joe with his two sons purchased dump trucks and began hauling black top and gravel in the summer and hauling soft water on the side. In the early 70's the boys became partners with their father and purchased their first over-the-road semi-tractor. They added a couple of trucks over the next several years while hauling packaged candy out of Round Lake, MN. In 1977 Joe Smith passed away and in 1978 Smith Trucking obtained its own authority and began hauling boxed meat and general commodities in 48 states.
