Driver Requirements
- 23 years of age or older
- Valid CDL issued from the state that you reside
- 2 years recent verifiable OTR T/T experience or 12 mo’s OTR + truck driving school
- Review and acceptance of a current MVR and DAC report
- No careless, reckless, or excessive speed (15 mph +) convictions in past 3 years
- No DOT reportable, preventable accidents in previous 12 months
- No DUI/DWI in previous 3 years
- No Narcotic or other drug related convictions with within past 3 years
- Submit to a pre-employ drug screen and DOT physical
- Must be able to perform essential functions with and without reasonable accommodations
Pay
- Pay based on Driver’s Experience, DAC Record, MVR and Work History.
- Our Current pay rates are .30 to .34 per/mile based on practical miles.
- While employed at Smith Trucking.
- Pay is based on Practical Miles off of PC-Miler
- Pick Up and Stop Pay
- 1st Stop = Free
- Stops 2–4 = $20.00
- Stops 5+ = $25.00
- Detention/Layover Pay

- East Coast Pay
- Drivers receive an extra .02 cents per/mile for any load delivering Chicago and out through the Northeast.
- Loading & Unloading Pay
- We reimburse lumpers with a valid receipt
- We will pay the driver based on time

- Vacation Pay
- 1 week paid vacation after 1 year of employment
- 2 week paid vacation after 2 years of employment
- DOT Inspection Bonus
- $50.00 bonus for any clean DOT inspection
- Passenger Policy
- After 30 days of qualification, one passenger/age 8 to 69.
- The first time $25.00/month, then $10/person/month thereafter.
- Pet Policy
- 40 lb. weight max./one dog only
- $500.00 deposit deducted $50.00 per week.
- Direct Deposit
- Weekly payroll directly deposited to a checking or saving account
